Activity

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects about 5% of the adult Italian population and is an important cause of mortality, comorbidity and social impact. The remote and continuous monitoring of pharmacological treatment, as well as the collection of specific parameters, are necessary conditions to allow timely medical and social interventions, to reduce the clinical consequences of the disease, and to improve the life quality of patients, their families and the population.

The project aims to realize a technological platform for the remote monitoring of COPD, with
remote diagnosis and teleconsultation. The proposed solution is aimed at fostering the involvement of the patient in the treatment plan and to support the interaction, even remotely, with health care professionals.

The platform under development is based on the collection, integration and analysis of data from IoT devices and clinical data by Artificial Intelligence algorithms. Among the data collected there will be functional and physiological parameters, such as blood oxygenation, heart rate, physical activity, sleep, and adherence to therapy using smart inhalers.
